Since 1992, Europlasma developed processes for hazardous waste and gases based on the use of the very high temperatures provided by its proprietary technology: the non-transferred arc plasma torch. The high temparatures used allow complex wastes to be changed into inert glass.
In 2017, Europlasma has successfully commissioned its plasma facility for the treatment of low-level radioactive waste in Kozloduy (Bulgaria). This first unit using non-transferred arc plasma technology ensures homogeneous melting of every nature of waste, be it organic or inorganic. Moreover, this process drastically reduces the volume of waste (up to 80 times in certain cases) allowing to significantly increase existing storage capacities whilst improving their safety.
